2020 WaterWise High School Video Contest

Inspire the community to use water wisely by creating fun, entertaining, and informational videos! Schools and student winners will receive cash prizes and have their video aired on local TV networks and played in movie theaters.

2020 marks the 21st Annual WaterWise High School Video Contest where high school filmmakers throughout Santa Barbara County are challenged to produce creative and high-quality videos that follow this year's theme:

"Life After Lawn"

Did you know that most homeowners use over 50% of their water outdoors? Experts estimate that 50% of the water we use outdoors goes to waste from evaporation, wind, or runoff due to over watering. Lawn and nonnative grasses require a lot of water to be healthy and are not sustainable in in our environment where water is scarce. By transforming our yards to be more climate appropriate, life after lawn can be a beautiful water saver!
